As a recent PDP alum, I have come to realize how important community and culture is within the university. Being the Assistant to the Dean, my responsibilities are dependent on having stellar organizational skills, and daily interaction and favorable relationships with the faculty, staff, and students of GSE&IS. I have served on the GSE&IS Holiday and Staff Appreciation Day Committees for four years and have spearheaded our annual holiday donation drive to needy organizations. Additionally, I have organized various receptions and functions for the Dean and the School. Both of these responsibilities indicate that I have experience that will prove useful in the position of Vice President, Special Projects.

PDP has lit a fire in my belly to become more involved at UCLA! I have attended many of the events the Vice President, Special Projects is responsible for but now would like a leadership role within those events. UCLA has given me so much in the four years that I have been here, now’s the time that I give back!

Given my passion for volunteering, I would love to engage UCLA faculty, staff, and students with a needy organization. An example would be working with the Union Rescue Mission by creating a “Bruin’s Give” day in which faculty, staff, and students feed the homeless at Skid Row. I have participated in UCLA Volunteer Day since its inception, and I love the way it involves staff, students, and alumni. I see a “Bruin’s Give” day as a similar opportunity, but one that includes faculty.

I would also like to work with the Vice President, Strategic Marketing to increase the visibility of the Holiday Toy Drive.
