I moved to Los Angeles when I transferred to UCLA nine years ago. I grew up on a farm in Central California so the adjustment to city life and the might of UCLA was interesting. The campus, the buildings, and the city were all so big! But when I graduated with my degree in 2002, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave yet.

I became a staff member by fate, securing an Administrative Assistant position in the Department of Education, where I stayed for two years. In 2004 I moved to the Department of Psychology where I have since held a Student Affairs role in the Psychology Undergraduate Advising Office.

In addition to my counseling roles, I am also responsible for coordinating the Departmental Honors Program, Orientation, and the annual Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference. Through these programming roles I have developed a passion for graphic design and marketing. I am taking classes at UCLA Extension in Design Communication Arts and plan to eventually find a career in marketing at UCLA.

In 2004 I participated in the Staff Enrichment Program which allowed me to connect with many wonderful employees across campus. UCLA is big to me in so many ways. But through all-staff programs and groups like Staff Assembly I have come to believe that UCLA is in fact a small world! Involvement in all-staff events will quickly remind anyone at UCLA at how interconnected we are despite our varying specialties. It excites me to be involved in a group of professionals who make these connections possible.
