Joash Wampande

President-Elect

Joash Wampande serves as the UCLA Staff Assembly President-Elect.

In this role, he builds on his leadership experience to advance staff priorities across UCLA.    

Professionally, Joash is a Program Manager overseeing administrative operations for the UCLA Department of Medicine Physician Onboarding Program. He leads a longitudinal program that supports faculty physicians’ professional education, training, and development. He also serves on the Department of Medicine Professional Education Committee, where he contributes to the department’s strategic plan to advance research, education, patient care, and inclusive excellence.   

Joash previously served as Vice President for Development for UCLA Staff Assembly (2025–2026), where he strengthened staff professional development through targeted fundraising efforts. He led a historic campaign that raised $26,007 in scholarship funding to support staff career growth and advancement.    

He is a recipient of the UCLA Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Award (2020–2026), recognized for his contributions to improving physician and patient satisfaction, enhancing program performance, and advancing the department’s mission. In 2026, he was also honored with the Council of the University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) Outstanding Board Member Award.   

Joash earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is deeply committed to advancing education, disease prevention, and health promotion for marginalized communities in Uganda, East Africa. Outside of his professional work, he is a passionate farmer, fitness enthusiast, and active volunteer in his local church.
