Michael McCormack

Vice President, Events

Michael McCormack (he, him) is the Vice President of Events for the UCLA Staff Assembly Executive Board (AY 2023-2024) and the Assistant Director, Leadership & Involvement at UCLA Residential Life. He holds his Ed.D from California State University, Los Angeles, his masters degree in college student affairs from Rutgers University, and his bachelor’s degree from New York University. His areas of interest and expertise include student development, civic engagement, and qualitative research.

His goals within the VP of Events role involve enhancing staff engagement through events and workshops
throughout the year that focus on wellness and community building. Additionally, he seeks to promote diversity and inclusion at all events, seeking to represent and honor the diverse backgrounds of the UCLA community. Lastly, incorporating sustainability practices into events and stewardship efforts is key to Michael’s platform.

As Assistant Director, he advises residential student government, coordinates large-scale campus events, like True Bruin Welcome, and helps facilitate development for over 23,000 students in university residence halls. He also co-teaches in the Masters of Student Affairs program, helping foster and train the newest generation of student affairs professionals and educational leaders.

In his free time, Michael is running marathons, going to concerts around Los Angeles, or exploring (or suggesting) a new restaurant recommendation!
