Westwood Forward is an initiative driven by UCLA students, Westwood business and property owners, and neighborhood residents who seek changes in the governance of Westwood Village, California. This initiative proposes to create a subdivision of the existing Westwood Neighborhood Council, encompassing the UCLA campus, Westwood Village, and adjacent residential property predominantly occupied by students, faculty, and staff. Sign their petition by December 14 to support the creation of the new North Westwood Neighborhood Council. Fitness for Fun is a UCLA Staff Assembly program that promotes camaraderie among UCLA staff while enjoying a fun fitness activity. The workshop in December will take place at 5:30 on Tuesday, December 12, when participants learn the fundamentals of Tai Chi and QiGong. Register to engage in a full body and mind alignment through gentle, in place, movements of QiGong, followed by balance practices of Tai Chi. The self-defense applications of Tai Chi will be demonstrated by the UCLA Recreation instructor, Peter Asco. Dress warmly! To RSVP, visit https://uclasafitnesstaichiqigong.eventbrite.com.

More about the instructor: As a Body and Mind Fitness Instructor for the John Wooden Center, Peter Asco has been teaching and introducing our UCLA staff, faculty and students to the transformative and self-healing arts of Tai Chi & QiGong since 1999. He's the recipient of several awards including the UCLA 2002 Instructor of the Year, 2008 FitWell Impact, and 2017 Outstanding Instructor Awards. In 2013, Mr. Asco was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame and presented with the Life Achievement Award for his contributions to these arts and service to the community.
