Heidi Martinez has been a dedicated career employee with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA since 2007. With extensive experience in medical education and human resources, she currently serves as the Residency Program Coordinator in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. In this role, Heidi excels at program management, project coordination, recruitment, onboarding, and implementing process improvements to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.

Heidi is passionate about fostering positive work environments through process improvement, staff retention, burnout prevention, and staff well-being initiatives. She also actively oversees resident wellness within the department, ensuring trainees feel supported throughout their medical journey.

Beyond her professional role, Heidi is deeply committed to service and community involvement. She is the current President of UCLA Staff Assembly and previously served as President-Elect, advocating for staff development and recognition. Additionally, she is an active member of the GMEAS section of the Association for Academic Pathology and contributes to the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) People Subcommittee.

In her personal life, Heidi enjoys creating lasting memories with her family through vacations, taking long walks with her beloved dogs, and giving back to her community by volunteering in children’s ministry at her local church.
