Vice President, Development

Joash Wampande is a Program Manager overseeing the administrative functions and operations of the UCLA Department of Medicine Physician Onboarding Program. He leads a program that supports newly hired outpatient and inpatient physicians during their first year at UCLA, ensuring they are personally and professionally equipped through high-yield educational sessions.

Joash serves on the UCLA Department of Medicine Professional Education Committee, which provides professional development and continued educational training for physicians. He has received the Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Award (2020–2025) for his outstanding contributions toward improving physician and patient satisfaction, program performance, and advancing the department’s mission of delivering leading-edge patient care, research, and education.

In his role as Vice President for Development for UCLA Staff Assembly, Joash is committed to advocating for staff interests, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and building a more connected UCLA community by strengthening the Staff Assembly’s fundraising efforts to expand opportunities for staff development and recognition in these unprecedented times.

Born in Uganda, East Africa, Joash moved to the United States in the summer of 2007 and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is devoted to advancing education, disease prevention, and health promotion for marginalized communities in Uganda. He is a passionate farmer and fitness enthusiast.
