Michael McCormack

President-Elect

Michael McCormack (he, him) is the President-Elect for the UCLA Staff Assembly Executive Board (AY 2024-2025) and the Assistant Director, Leadership & Involvement at UCLA Residential Life. He holds his Ed.D from California State University, Los Angeles, his masters degree in college student affairs from Rutgers University, and his bachelor’s degree from New York University. His areas of interest and expertise include student development, civic engagement, and qualitative research.

His goals as President-Elect involve:

  • Center staff concerns with the new chancellor and leadership transition
  • Conduct a listening tour with key campus and Health stakeholders and leaders
  • Update governing documents away from gendered language to promote inclusivity in
    Staff Assembly
  • Collaborate towards common purpose and goals with affinity groups on campus, such as the Latino Staff and Faculty Association, the Black Bruin Resource Center, the LGBT Staff and Faculty Association, the retired staff association and others.

As Assistant Director, he advises residential student government, coordinates large-scale campus events, like True Bruin Welcome, and helps facilitate development for over 23,000 students in university residence halls. He also co-teaches in the Masters of Student Affairs program, helping foster and train the newest generation of student affairs professionals and educational leaders.

In his free time, Michael is running marathons, going to concerts around Los Angeles, or exploring (or suggesting) a new restaurant recommendation!
