Take a well-deserved break and experience the benefits of animal-assisted therapy! This event will feature a presentation about UCLA’s renowned People-Animal Connection program, followed by an opportunity to spend time with the incredible PAC therapy dogs. Learn how these specially trained animals provide comfort and support across campus and the medical center—while enjoying some paws-itively stress-relieving moments yourself!
UCLA People-Animal Connection (PAC) is one of the most comprehensive Animal-Assisted Therapy and Activity (AAT/A) programs in the nation. PAC volunteer teams (consisting of the canine and his/her human partner) offer companionship and warmth to more than 1,000 critically ill children and adults per month. Since its inception in 1994, PAC teams have recorded more than 120,000 in-patients visits, as well as hundreds of thousands unrecorded visits to families and guests to UCLA medical centers and community events. When not in the hospital, PAC’s reach extends to the UCLA campus, providing therapy animal services to events such as UCLA First Thursday, All-Staff Social, and department & student wellness events.
